The Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences is one of the four departments under the School of Veterinary Sciences, University for Development Studies. The department hosts courses in veterinary basic sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Genetics, Histology, Embryology, Biochemistry etc. These courses are fundamental and necessary for undergraduates in subsequent clinical years of their training in any of the veterinary programmes in the school [Veterinary Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Laboratory Technology and Companion Animal Husbandry and Health]. These courses provide theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as help the students develop lifelong learning to graduate as competent and socially responsible professionals. The department is manned by well-resourced and highly-motivated lecturers with post-graduate degrees and research experience in diverse disciplines of veterinary sciences.
