Ibrahim Yakubu holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Studies from Stellenbosch University, South African. He is an interdisciplinary researcher with over 15 years’ experience in teaching, research and community service within the higher education sector. Ibrahim’s teaching, research, and consultancies bridge science, policy, and urban practice gaps in the global South. His research and policy engagements span the fields of urban planning, housing and the built environment, pro-poor housing systems, urban and regional development, informal urbanism, urban resilience, infrastructure systems and sustainable urban development. Ibrahim has communicated these interests in several scientific journal and book chapter articles published in leading international and local scholarly outlets. He has consulted for numerous government and civil society organizations. His consultancy and policy reports contribute to shaping national development in a variety of fields including development policy and planning, natural resource governance and urban development management. Ibrahim is also a member of the Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP), The Common-wealth Association of Planners (CAP) and the Ghana Geographical Association (GGA).
